After getting balanced properly on your saddle over the cranks and pedals, the finish to your balanced powerful control of your bicyle are your handlebars. They finish the third point of your comfort, control and power on a bicycle.

There are literally hundreds of different handlebars out there in the world. Handlebar choice can be divided into two basic types: Single position bars and multiposition bars.

For control in town or in the woods the upright position of the many single position flat style handlebars are very popular.

If you are riding far into the wind and will spend hours on your bike then a narrower multiposition bar is, I think, the handlebar of choice.

For most, your handlebar choice will be what is familiar. Take a look at the different bars and choose.

The key factor is that the brake levers and shift controls are different depending on which handlebars you select. Very different in many cases.

Once you choose your bars you have set the limit to what brake levers and shift controls will fit on your bike.

If you are feeling a little experimental, many folks would say you cannot go wrong with the Bike Friday designed flat multipositions bars. We feel they are often the best of both worlds. What makes them unique is they are easy to pack, quite light and allow some really fine choices of special equipment that are often used in different mixes. Those are great atributes in a travel bike handlebar or anyone wanting a comfortable ergonomic and efficient handlebar.
